I don't know for sure in idle mode, but the GP38's roared a lot more when running. I used to be able to hear the GP38-2's from my house reving up when they were starting up at the station, and the station is about a half a mile away from me.I remember standing on some stations like Oakdale on a summer evening when the Montauk express westbounds used to go by, and those things SCREAMED as they went by. |
