The railway preservation movement didn't get started until the 1920s,and not in earnest until the WW-II era. By that time most of the older equipment was gone. Besides the derelict Manhattan forneys in Alaska, at least 2 Chicago forneys survive. And there are several preserved examples of rapid transit wooden steam coaches from that era. |
