Although I think those two runs are necessary equipment moves. Midday Bay Head shuttle service is usually supplied by two consists, a three car train which always runs as a shuttle (I believe it's layed up in Bay Head at night and is used on the first morning shuttle-only to Long Branch) and a 6 car train which runs to Hoboken in the AM, becomes the 8:30 express, does a round trip as a shuttle only and then runs back to Hoboken at 2:20 so it can become a peak train back to Bay Head, I assume laying up for the night out there afterwards. I have no idea how or when they could refuel it, though. |
