That original signage gave a hell of a lot more information than today's signage. It was designed to attract people from the street to use the subway without the need for a map, listing all major stops such as Times Square, Grand Central, etc. After the system expanded though, it didn't make much sense since when many more trips became available by transferring and it was not possible to list them all. |
