Even though I live in Nassau when I don't take the LIRR I will park in Forest Hills and take the subway from there. It is convenient from the Queens Blvd exit of the Grand Central and if you go after alternate side is over you can usually find a spot. And the subway is convenient to go anywhere with convenient transfers.
