That's not what makes Islam great. You don't need Islam to not drink alcohol. I don't drink alcohol either, and I'm not a Muslim. I don't drink it not because of a moral prohibition. I don't because I never got a liking for the taste and I don't enjoy it - so I don't.What makes Islam hang together, like Judaism, or Christianity, is a set of understadable tenets that you can follow and practice and be at one with your God (Allah in this belief system) and so on. The alcohol ban is a detail, but it's only one detail, not even the major one. I'm not knocking it, mind you. The major tenets of Islam include the prayer requirement, the Hajj and charity. |
