The rule may be extremely stupid but it is also extremely clear. The officer was carrying out his duties to enforce this dumb rule and did nothing illegal. I'm sure that they nab many people with outstanding warrants by enforcing minor infractions such as yours. The "broken windows" method of crime fighting is centered on such a theory and has proven to work. That's probably why they enforce it to begin with. Either way, you fought the law and the law won. I would just pay the fine. |
