Yeah, I remember the Taystee plant, but not Jane Parker (though the pic in question was taken during my lifetime). It closed in spring 1992. The name must have changed in the 70s

Regarding the switches underneath the Van Wyck, I also noticed that remnant during an exploration I undertook in September 2006. But in fact, it wasn't the expressway that killed the spur- they co-existed. Look carefully at the shape of the white industrial building, and you'll see that it's curved to follow the ROW. Also, take a look at this page, with pics from 1978, on arrts-arrchives:

From the look of it, the spur was out of use by then, BUT the Taystee plant appears to have its own siding, no? The plant was opened in 1962 (I think), so the spur likely had at least some use in the post WW2 period.

I'm sorry I'm not skilled enough to post a proper link. Finally, from what I've heard elsewhere (unfortunately, I can't remember where), you're right about the announcements for "Flushing Main Street".
