Let us be fair with the LIRR.They did not know that these locomotives would be a bust. This is the first time that they had ever specified a locomotive that did not come off the shelf. You must also consider that there *was* MTA politics involved here: the State Powers That Be wanted work for Supersteal in New York State, and really did not give a damn if the locomotives worked or not. When they did not work, they made a giant step sideways and bought Genesis locomotives for MNRR, while blaming the LIRR for the DM30s. Unfortunately, they did not even *ask* the LION for his opinion on the subject. ROAR |
