Agggh ... guilt-pangs for what I've said that veered off "transit" earlier ... so let's bring this full circle, BACK on topic sorta ...The PENN Hotel, like all OTHER "merger properties of the Penn Central" as it went through its death shudders on rails and elsewhere, I suppose SHOULD be designated a "landmark" in retrospect as a MUSEUM of just how phucked up PennCentral actually became as they died. It's EVERY bit as skanky as their Bronx Local service as well as the infamous "New Canaan Express" and other trains that passed by my house in the Bronx with flames under almost EVERY car ... AT speed. :( So yeah, I think it SHOULD be a museum, a landmark ... but like 1723 Burnside, let's NOT let the owner rent out rooms in it, even to rats. :) |
