Building that just to avoid a sharp curve isn't justifiable. I would have to side with the NIMBYs on something like that. A cheaper way to do it would be to rebuild the Jamaica Center switches to increase capacity to 20 TPH. Then run 9 or 10 (J) + 9 or 10 (V) with the (J) being the express on a new center track. The (Z) would be discarded. You plan to only run 6 TPH at all the local stations forgetting that these trains would get twice the riders because of the elimination of skip-stop. They would need at least 9-10 TPH. |
