Your point is one that I agree with and raised earlier. Maybe by not giving him my ID I was breaking the law. Who knows. I suspect that if that were really the case he would have cited me for that instead of unruly behavior. I don't quite know what to make of the fact that the deputies mentioned many times that not giving him my ID was the problem. Yet he hand wrote on my infraction that I was being cited for "unruly behavior." The cynic in me believes that in court this is what he will state was the real problem. I was in the way of passengers or was belligerent or some such. Any of that would be totally false.The ticket is for an infraction, not a misdemeanor. It'll be more like traffic court. In fact, it's basically a traffic ticket with my alleged infraction written where speeding or such would normally go. I wouldn't expect to need a lawyer. I'll tell what happened to the best of my recollection and if it turns out that I was wrong, well that's that. I'll pay my fine and be on my way. |
