The temporary station at 221st Street is closed and a new one opened at 225th Street. 1911 – from The Book of First Runs The 191st Street station of the IRT #1 subway line opens for passenger service. It has been long considered as the deepest station ever built on the entire NYC subway system, located 180 feet below street level. 1965 – from The Book of Last Runs This is the last day for the D-Types on the Brighton Express (BMT Rt. 1 /Q). 1966 – from The Book of Wrecks A non-revenue train of Q-Types lead by 1619C struck the former Staten Island Railway trailer car 2925 (x 504) in the Fresh Pond Yard. The impact was strong enough to push the SIRT car through the block and down into the open cut of Long Island Railroad's Montauk Branch. Larry, RedbirdR33 |
