Under the right (or is it wrong) conditions, a person can be electrocuted with a 9 volt battery.

Some stations are isolated from the rest of the traction power. In these stations the center rail is grounded to the isolated running rails. The outer rail is set to 630 vdc. This way, the train with its two pickups will see 630 vdc and a person can touch the center rail and not get electrocuted.
