Well, here they are #513 [#5947] & #510 [#5538] at the LIRR Kew Gardens station. (April 24, 1975) ![]() After the Bi-Centennial festivities waned, #680 [#6046] & #681 dropped their temporary numbers of #1776 & #1976. (Coney Island - Sept 10, 1977) ![]() Three years later, #680 was separated from #681 and the colorful Bi-Centennial colors have faded with some graffiti to add insult to injury. The diamond CC sign looks taped on the glass. This was the time of the Rockwell truck fiasco that sent the R-46's all over to the delight of railfans. (Nov. 4, 1980) ![]() The R-46's were not assigned to the BMT eastern division but that didn't stop a special ERA fan trip from venturing there, unfortunately I didn't attend. Fresh Pond Rd [Myrtle Ave Line] (July 4, 1976) ![]() The flyover track at Broadway Jct is on the top ten best places for photos for years. (July 4, 1976) ![]() An (N) Sea Beach PM rush hour "put in" from Coney Island yard waits for the lineup at the Bay 50th St 'wye'. (July 1978) ![]() The ramp at the Culver line's Ditmas Ave at full 210mm telephoto looking more execrated than normal. My 80-210mm two touch-tele zoom lens was like a miniature mortar shell and weighed just as much ! (July 1978) ![]() Now for some Culver line action! Seen at 18th Ave, an (F) Culver Exp switches over to the express track at Ditmas Ave. (July 1978) ![]() An (F) local train switches over to the express track at Kings Hwy. which I believe is the last stop. (July 1978) ![]() An (F) Culver Exp switches over to the local track at Kings Hwy. The final destination should be Coney Island.(July 1978)) ![]() About three months after the previous Kings Hwy. photos on a clear rather than hazy day the Empire Bldg is more prominent. (October 1978) ![]() At the Forth Ave station, looking towards Smith-9th St on full telephoto. When I was young and riding the old (D) train I always wondered where that center fifth track went. (July 1978) ![]() At the Smith-9th St station when the Twin Towers commanded the skyline, a four car (GG) train approaches the station. (October 1978) ![]() Some twenty three years later, the (GG) is now the (G) Crosstown Local. If you look where the Twin Towers once stood, you'll see faint white smoke from the underground fires still burning at "ground zero" from September 11th. (November 2001) ![]() At the Brighton Line's Ave H station, I was doing some photography when this R-46 (N) appeared. Not a reroute, probably taking the scenic route to Coney Island yard. (July 1979) ![]() Before undergoing a total rebuild of Stillwell terminal, the employee crew room was getting makeover. A solitary R-10 [#3089) was set up a a temporary locker room from what I was told. (October 1979) ![]() An R-46 (N) on the Astoria line is approaching the Astoria Blvd station. (Oct. 7, 1979) ![]() South motor #993 [#6165] leads an (F) reroute to Lefferts Blvd at Liberty Jct. (June 1994) ![]() With a single track operation at the West 8th St station, #728 [#5638] is the south motor of an (F) train. (undated photo) COMING SOON........R-68's. ![]() |
