SIRT did something along those lines too, before the Gold MetroCard. They had conductors roaming on the train and collected your fare after you boarded. And you just exited at St. George if you were going to the ferry. And paid via turnstile going onto the train at St. George. They gave you paper receipts IIRC if you paid cash onboard. |
