Re: PHOTOS: VALLEY STREAM

One interesting item about Valley Stream is Long Beach trains get a clear signal to enter the station, but Far Rock trains get approach medium. Since most Long Beach and all Far Rock bound trains stop at Valley Stream, I never understood this arrangement. My first ride through Valley Stream was in 1985, and this still goes on to this day. No one has been able to explain it to me, except to say that's the way it's always been. I understand the Far Rock trains take the switch and leave the Atlantic, but they all stop at the station, so what is the point of the approach medium signal to enter the station if they all stop anyway???
