No one EVER parked there. It was a dirt parking lot, weed infested platform, and horrible. It was as bad or worse as any east of Ronkonkoma station was before the rebuilds.But they put in the platform, paved the parking lot (granted, did make it smaller), and made it look like a "real" station, and the people came. Now it's hard to find a parking spot there. Center moriches was a decent station, even before the abandonment, with a nice parking lot, etc. The service was crumby, (just as Bellports was). Most trains skipped Center Moriches and Bellport. If they had normal service, and put a one car platform there like Bellport, people would use it. It beats dring and using Mastic-Shirley, or worse, driving to Ronkonkoma. |
