Banning eating because some people will abuse the right/privilege (by not tossing their garbage) is like banning guns because some people will abuse the right/privilege.The analogy isn't apt. If you allow people to eat on the subway, you get some inconvenience, a bit more litter, and a slight uptick in the number of track fires if the MTA can't be bothered to vacuum regularly. If you allow gun ownership, people get shot and die en masse. Obviously, there's a lot more reason to ban guns than to ban subway eating. |
