You work with your hands and your head. Both are often necessary. You bring home an honest paycheck and decent benefits for the wife and the kiddies.Once you eliminate the noble professions, what's left? The McJob? Welfare for everyone? Then the computers will decide they don't need us at all anymore. I've never given too much thought to the plight of the elevator operator, but that was probably an honest living for someone too. There are hard unintended consequences of "progress". For the most part, the buffs and self-styled armchair transportation planners will never understand what we do. |
