Back in the day, they were matched. Seems around 1975 or 1976 they got mixed up (definitely so by the time I departed NYC in late August 1976).Maybe if they had gotten a real GOH, they would have been matched up like their IRT cousins (R-26/R-28), which were also mixed up pre-GOH (many times a -26 with a -28). The one exception was the cars assigned to the 6 (7800-7899) which were always paired up properly (AFAIK). |
