No, they did not.If stripping the railroad network bare is "amazing things", then Conrail did amazing things. Fact is, railroads never wanted passenger service, and reality proves it Nope. They wouldn't have held onto passenger service as long as they did under the private sector if they "never wanted" it. And all of the NYC subways would have been built by the city. |
