Posted by Edwards! on Tue Mar 25 04:01:55 2014, in response to Re: Tuscarora Almanac - March 23, 1968 - The Book of First Runs, posted by Chris R16/R2730 on Sun Mar 23 11:42:22 2014. not at all like the cars designed..they looked like that due to the TA tinkering with the roof line..slanted end AND interior..making the car appear more like a R38 with elongated windows and raked back front end.they turned the car into a "old car with new clothes". the TRUE R40 DESIGN was more in line with the BART cars..flatter roof line..better interior ascetics made with hard plastics and far better seating in a bench style. their tinkering made the car a rolling death trap..by sticking with the MARRIED PAIR CONCEPT,instead of the 5 car set like LOEWEY wanted. |
