Single point turnouts:![]() From LightRail.com The rail on the right side of the photo moves just like the two points on a normal railroad turnout. Here's a close up of the moving point in a TTC Turnout: ![]() Again, only the closest rail moves, the rail in the background is fixed. As for how the system determines the route of the trolley and the direction it should move, Philadelphia uses the Vetag system. MaxFaqs has an interesting write-up on Vetag as used by Portland Trimet, but I'm not sure how that system compares to SEPTA's setup. |
