When the NYC BOT was planning to extend the "A" train past Euclid, wasn't 76th St. originally going to be the next station?But abruptly,after the 1950 LIRR Rockaway Branch trestle fire, it was decided that the NYC BOT would acquire and operate the line. It was decided to connect the "A" train from Euclid to the LIRR Rockaway Branch. A revised route had to be planned quickly to connect to the Fulton St. El rather than build an extensive subway extension. Isn't that's why even though 76th was being built, because route plans changed, the future 76th St.station was abandoned? |
