Thanks for the photos, especially the one on the switches at Broadway-Myrtle! As for that downgrade on the Willy B appoaching Essex St, it's the second steepest in the system, 5.5%, and there's a sharp reverse curve with a facing point turnout at the bottom. They always had slow timers there, even back during the BMT days. You're right, the approach was open air during the Bridge reconstruction about 15 years ago, but they then reinstalled the pedestrian/bicycle path above the tracks. |
