When the MTA acquired the SIRT fom B&O, William Ronan, then Chairman of the MTA appointed by his buddy Gov. Nelson Rockefeller, came out to Staten Island to visit the SIRT facility.I don't think he was ever on Staten Island before.When he heard "Staten Island Rapid Transit" he thought it was similar to "Bay Area Rapid Transit." When he saw it he was in a state of shock. |
