I was commuting from Woodhaven Blvd to 121st Street in the Spring of 1968. Around 8am, I would catch a Jamaica-bound Standard for the returning JJ skip-stop, which one-by-one became an R-9 over a period of several months. I can still remember the smell of fresh enamel paint in them as they came on. |
