Posted by mci guy on Thu Dec 27 15:36:38 2012, in response to R1 100 Questions, posted by Catfish 44 on Tue Dec 25 13:42:47 2012. heres the whole story. an eight car train of r1-r9 was placed in service in the mid 70s on the QB brighton rush hour service coney island to 57 st. i should know as me ands wife rode them everyday to work. when i first saw it i couldnt believe it. cars escaped the scrapper as someone at nycta hid them in tunnels. only one condutor and motorman at the time were qualified to pilot them. fare was thirty five cets i believe and ive rode them again recentlt for quite a HEFTY PRICE. |
