Unless one was exceptionally athletic, using the partially severed stairways would've been very hard.I went out there in late December '88...I had assumed that the El would be in service over the Van Wyck Expressway- I didn't epxect to find that they'd tunneled under the highway. Still seems to me that it woulda been less costly to cross the highway over Jamaica Ave than to have tunneled the way they did. But c'est la vie. |
