Amtrak leased a dozen cars from VIA Canada to augment their passenger car fleet during Thanksgiving week, reportedly to compensate for the anticipated inability of NJ Transit to furnish the usual two sets of Arrow III emu's for Thanksgiving Sunday as a result of damage experienced from Superstorm Sandy. As it worked out, Transit came through, and Amtrak used the cars from the two Adirondak trainsets to augment their Northeast Corridor trains. The VIA cars were used on trains 68 and 69 Adirondak between Montreal and Rensselaer only, since low hanging equipment would not have cleared the third rail between Poughkeepsie and NYP.
When Tuesday (today) was announced as the last day for VIA equipment, I booked train 69 to Port Henry and train 68 back.

P32AC-DM 712 and 716 took the Amfleet consist from NYP to ALB.

P42DC 43 took the VIA consist from Rensselaer to Montreal.

The VIA cars were four HEP 1 cars, one HEP 2 car, and one Park Series dome.
