LOL! About half the main line is either double tracked or has a very long passing siding. The lower segment (yards) and right-side segment (sidings) will have urban backdrops. Just before the mountain in the upper right and leaving the business district in the lower left, there will be scene dividers with an auto bridge located against the divider, like the one in the background in this picture:

The upper half and left-side segments will be mountain/southwest scenery. The left hand segment won't have a backdrop because the drop entry is located here. The upper segments will have a low mountain and/or high plains backdrop. Obviously, there is a mine in the mountain scene.

Based on my friend's interests the primary roads run will be Sante Fe and Union Pacific. Since he lived in CT for a number of years while growing up, New Haven "fan trips" using PA's and/or DL-109's will run from time to time. And I won't be surprised to see an I-5 on the point of one of these trips!

The time frame modeled will be early 1950's, so late model steam and first generation diesels will be used. Rolling stock will be age-appropriate.
