If I recall, about 2 or 3 years ago someone did attempt to revive the Automat and opened one somewhere in Manhattan. From what I have heard it didn't work out too well and I believe it has now closed. I guess with the proliferation of Mickey D's, BK, KFC Taco Bell etc, there just isn't a demand for the type of food and service provided by the Automats and their associated cafeterias. In fact when most of the Automats closed, Horn & Hardart actually obtained some Burger King franchises and opened up BKs in many of the old H & H locations. Those too, sadly, are gone.
