SEPTA Riders Group Petitions for Bathrooms, Trash CansBathrooms are especially important on longer routes, like the Paoli-Thorndale line, according to the DVARP.By Pete Kennedy | June 6, 2012The Delaware Valley Association of Rail Passengers is hoping to influence SEPTA's next train purchase. The group has launched a petition aimed at adding bathrooms and trash cans to the next set of trains suburban commuters will be riding on.
"Bathrooms and trash cans are an especially good idea for long train routes, such as the Paoli/Thorndale Line," Andy Sharpe, the DVARP communications director, said in an email.
Riders can find more information and sign the petition here. It reads, in part:How many times have you really had to go the bathroom, but realized you had an hour train ride ahead of you? Or, do you get tired of seeing all the trash on trains that riders leave behind. Sign this petition if you'd like to see SEPTA include bathrooms and trash receptacles on the next order of Regional Rail trains (Silverliner VIs). While other rail and transit authorities, such as Metra in the Chicagoland, and New Jersey Transit across the Delaware River include bathrooms and trash cans on their trains, SEPTA does not. The petition currently has 65 signatures, out of a goal of 100.
