Their selling point is "one-seat ride". It is not train frequency or lower fares to garnish market share.If they give the RVL, for example, any NYPS slots, they will have to boot out as many other trains, like Montclair or South Amboy. Do it off peak, and they have used another train set, increased operating costs 33% (from 3 to 4 train sets) which on a line with 45% fare box recovery can never be paid out of increased patronage. |
