Posted by Edwards! on Mon Jan 9 17:46:58 2012, in response to Re: Abandoned Utica Ave Upper Level (Pix Coming Soon), posted by Elkeeper on Sat Jan 7 16:16:15 2012. not so...the IND had a nasty habit of destroying whole blocks to make a new thoroughfare,as was done with the Crosstown route from Flushing ave to Broadway[the New Union st]..the 6th ave extension..and planned South 4th to Beaver then Bushwick for the Utica subway..The Utica line would have continued Stuyvesant ave across Fulton st to Atlantic ave,cutting across the block at an angle,continuing As Utica avenue southeast. |
