And let us not forget that steel cars were too heavy for the Brooklyn Bridge. Wasn't the Sands St loop closed in 1932 and demolished in 1935? Should have demolished the 5th Ave el, while they were at it, since it had the lowest ridership of any elevated line, IRT or BMT! If it were up to me, I would have made it a condition to connect the Mantague tunnel to the Nassau line. |
