It is such a shame that people lacking common sense, or who are just plain stupid, put an end to all sorts of things that had few problems or complaints for many, many decades before they came along. Heck, if a streetcar or bus pole popped off the wire (a common problem for a while back in the 60s and early 70s), passers-by wouldn't think twice to pull on a guide rope to get it back on. It was just things you did because it was your town and it wasn't all about you (well, unless you lived in Pac Heights). |
