While i wouldnt put red lobster in the same class....as its not really one.of those bar/grill sort of chains....but I would still say ruby>applebees>Uno Chicago. Grill>chilis>houlihans>tgi friday. Tgi friday used to be better but they really messed up their menu in recent years. |

With OG, I am reasonably assured of quality food at a set price. I am not a food snob. I don't care about farm to table, local ingredients or trendy dishes. Besides, a lot of restaurants tend to interpret dishes differently. Carbonara may mean something at a one place that doesn't line up to what I want. |

Olive Garden is not better than Umberto's but that is on Long Island. Most Italian restaurants are garbage now. They are not Italian owned and certainly don't have Italian cooks. It's easier to compare Carrabbas and Olive Garden to an Italian restaurant than Spark's to Sizzler. That argument would be crazy. Italian food is different. So name a few good Italian restaurants you've been too. |

I go to quite a few Italian restaurants, and it's usually only the more expensive ones that are exceptional. It sure is edible and my point is only to disagree that the only people who don't like it haven't been there. It's not my first choice but when I'm with friends and the consensus is "Olive Garden" I'll go along and not hang the dog face or display any other rudeness about the place. Lots of people suggest chains for one thing. For another so much of food is ethnic now. Some people may like Thai, others may hate it. Some people like Indian, many others can't stand it. For me, I think that two of the most popular - Italian and Mexican - are overrated. So what's left? Steak and seafood? Those are all the same. |
