2011 Golden Jacket Awards |
|
Posted by SMAZ on Mon Dec 26 17:49:02 2011 Presented by the august and exclusive Jacket Club(drum roll............) Olog-Hai - This most distinguished member continues to leave us mere mortals speechless with his clinical, strait-laced approach and unpadded, wall to wall commentary of important and often alternating current events. Orange Blossom Special - This charter member's polarizing (and sometimes bipolarizing) contributions are never simply confined in-house but always brought out on the range. His continuing outstanding work thus clearly institutionalizes his already high standing within the gates of The Club. A special commendation goes to Associate Member LuchAAA for reminding all of us of his unending commitment to honor the unforgettable year that gave us the Columbia Space Shuttle Disaster and Genesis' remarkable "Land of Confusion" video. CONGRATULATIONS to all of you!!! A reminder to welcome the founding inductee of The Jacket Club's new junior auxiliary organization for the differently-abled. |

How long can one reasonably expect to be listed as an Associate Member before achieving full Member status assuming said individual conducts him/herself with proper decorum, follows both the spirit and letter of the charted mandate, and acts within the confines and tenets of established protocol as set forth by you and your Executive Staff if there is any? I, like most if not all, just assumed LuchAAA would be granted a waiver to bypass the Associate Member slot altogether due to his singular body of work. |

Speaking merely as an outside observer, it would appear that the situation here is like the technical reality of "signal to noise" ratio as observed in listening to radio stations with a weak signal. When the noise levels rise so high as to overwhelm the signal, there are fewer options available as you travel out to the "deep fringe" reception area. Therefore I suspect that scrabbleship fell off the radar simply because of obliteration by higher noise levels. :) |

Indeed. As we have all learned from trigonometry, some old hippie caught another hippie tripping on acid Therefore, tangent = opposite/adjacent. I hope this also answers courtelyounext's incisive question about the Award Committee's seemingly somewhat diaphanous methodology for determining the recipients of this prestigious and sought-after award. |

Why should diaphanous have a different status from etc (et cetera, also Latin)?English has borrowed words from just about every language over the years. Please let not your lack of knowledge of one word stifle a conversation. That’s why there are dictionaries. Let 2012 be your personal improve-your-vocabulary year! PS: You will also be a better Scrabble player! |

The LOA will be released early next year as the situation remains fluid. To better illustrate my point, consider 9 local. Unless I am missing something, I do not see that guy around here anymore. That guy has 10 hours of Cessna time - allegedly - but without supporting documentation my hands are tied. I'm not saying that guy is off the LOA but that guy needs to convince me he is worthy of holding a slot. This is just one example of what I am up against and I am doing the best I can but I cannot release the list in draft form. I ask for your patience and understanding, and thanks to all. |

Joe is on the LOA, the only change being he is filling a Conditional (Associate) Slot as opposed to the Alternate (Probationary) Slot as suggested in earlier correspondence. His slot is contingent on the ability of 9 local to provide acceptable documentation supporting his claim of 10 hours of Cessna time. Let me be clear - I have no reason to doubt his claim but policy guidelines stipulate that I still need to see either the official logbook or an official transcript with the raised seal of a Notary Public. In lieu of this evidence, I will accept actual footage of him flying around as long as the aircraft tail # is legible so I can track the PIC/SIC in the FAA archives. Failing that, Joe will immediately assume the aforementioned Alternate (Probationary) Slot and as long as he stays out of trouble will achieve Permanent status in 15 months. Here |
