Why should diaphanous have a different status from etc (et cetera, also Latin)?English has borrowed words from just about every language over the years. Please let not your lack of knowledge of one word stifle a conversation. That’s why there are dictionaries. Let 2012 be your personal improve-your-vocabulary year! PS: You will also be a better Scrabble player! |
