Whatever her faults, (and the anti-Jewish remark Ms. Thomas made was horrible), Helen Thomas was an icon of political reporting we're not likely to see again anytime soon. She covered every American President--from the White House--since JFK, and her contributions to the average person's understanding of the Presidency are a priceless historical gift.Her comments were indefensible, but her life and work are far larger than her poor judgment in this affair.
