State of Economy Grounds for Price Controls on Gas and Diesel

With the state of the economy being what it is with more people being thrown out of work and the oil companies once gain sneaking back to their price gouging ways of last year, it seems to me that some sort of price controls would be in order. How is someone supposed to be looking for work put enough gas or diesel in his tank when the price is skyrocketing out of control. The low income people who want to better themselves are getting hit the hardest. perhaps to pay for a tankful of gas, one will have to start dealing drugs on the side, or resort to the use of a ski mask and a gun. Don 't tell me it is the law of supply and demand at work, when there are speculators manipulating the oil prices on the New York Mercantile Exchange. Perhaps a good dose of Oklahoma City is what the Financial district needs. The price gouging has to be stopped one way or another, by the use of force, if necessary.

Reality aside, price controls by a democratic government can only mean one thing.

$14 bucks a gallon. According to them gas is too cheap right now, and let's go back to the metrics of what would be too high during the last congressional session when gas peaked. 9 dollars was not high enough to them.

But some looney toons would rather go on about manipulation conspiracies than actually listen to THEIR OWN WORDS FROM THE GOVERNMENT on what gas should be! 2 dollars is too cheap, they need to add enough taxes to get it to FOUR.
I'm so sick of stupid ppl, because I see this on so many subjects.

I thought it was "all Bush's fault" when the oil companies used to do that. How come they are still doing it under Obama? They must be "Obama's Oil Buddies" now.

it seems to me that some sort of price controls would be in order.

I would agree...but it seems that both the Republicans AND the Democrats are scared shitless of them, so never do anything like that.

Don 't tell me it is the law of supply and demand at work, when there are speculators manipulating the oil prices

You are correct, it's not supply and demand, and that speculators are allowed to play with the prices like this is reprehensible.

Perhaps a good dose of Oklahoma City is what the Financial district needs. The price gouging has to be stopped one way or another, by the use of force, if necessary.

Your post was great until you had to ruin it with this out of control sentence at the end.

They are not scared shitless of anything. They both realize that price controls DO NOT WORK! They only lead to shortages! I would rather pay $10 gallon for gas than not have any at all, which is what would happen with price fixing. At least at $10 per gallon I can decide whether or not it's a worthwhile purchase.

Your post was great until you had to ruin it with this out of control sentence at the end.

What people want it? Such is always imposed from without anyhow, so no democracy would vote it in, especially via direct democracy. The people (capitalization of "People" means a certain magazine) are more concerned with prosecuting criminal behavior in business.

SIMPLE solution on commodities gouging ... change the law so that if you purchase futures on commodities, you MUST take delivery. No reselling without a resale certificate and tax certificate.
