I mean its one of those jobs that we really don't want people to have. Perhaps the park benches and dead votes "helped", but at the end of the night they will not make the difference by any stretch of the imagination. At this point, the only states where it looks like the voting will be so close that issues of fraud could swing the vote are Virginia, Indiana and North Carolina. And those will likely settle out with enough of a margin either way that there will be no reasonable way to conclude that fraud played any part. The reality is that either side can make valid claims of fraud when the margin is miniscule. Voter fraud is like holding in football. If McCain supporters are thinking that voter fraud cost them this election, then they are quite mistaken. Time to come to grips with reality and figure out how to move forward. |

PA has more opportunity for revenue from natural gas than it ever would have had from coal. There is probably $10 trillion worth of recoverable natural gas under WV, PA, and NY (yes, I said NY). There's a fair amount under OH too. |

That will move more towards Obama as the night goes on. West Coast will be heavily Obama in both the popular and electoral votes. Probably looking at something on the order of 52-47 by the time things finally settle out.Obama will be the first Democrat to earn more than 50% of the popular vote since Carter in 1976, and he'll be the first with significantly more than 50% (Carter had 50.1%) since Johnson in 1964. |

He's moved to very narrow leads in VA and NC, but with 70+% reporting. Tough to make up even a point or two once you get beyond 80% or 90% reporting.Florida is tougher to call because the panhandle (very Republican) votes for one hour longer so the Democratic regions tend to report earlier. I don't see any results reported for Nevada yet. |

However, at 206, those are likely footnotes. California, Oregon, and Washington will seal the deal.Any recounts in Virginia or a possible court battle there also end up simply determining if Obama won the popular vote. Winning Ohio gave Obama at least 272. The Republicans now need to rediscover what exactly they are, and prepare for 2010 (midterms, although I see that as being McCain's final gasp, either retiring or losing to current Arizona governor Janet Napolitano). |
