The market is reacting to the Trump tarriffs which many thought was just a threat. When it appeared imminent, institutional investors went into panic mode. Within a day or two the bargain hunters will be in there and the market will soar once more.

You give him too much credit for having a plan.

He doesn't understand that his wild tariff swings undermine confidence in the markets and make business owners very reluctant to activate expansion plans because they don't have a clue what will happen next.

Also, every company that depends either on government services (which they pay for) or government contracts is scared to invest any money in business expansion.

Bidens tariff's did neither one of those.
If they are so reluctant, how come they are investing record amounts of money into the US? Why does tariff's work so well in your EU?

"Also, every company that depends either on government services (which they pay for) or government contracts is scared to invest any money in business expansion."

If you bought the S&P 500 at the end of 2021, at this point your gains are about the same as if you had kept your money in a high-yield savings account. That's what one man acting on his whims has done to us. It seems our only hope is if his tariff play brings country after country to the negotiating table, resulting in bilateral trade agreements.
