Technical help needed

Posted by Peter Rosa on Fri Nov 29 12:31:30 2024

Is there any way I can reach out through the computer and virtually-but-physically slap this person around a little?

Thanks.

slap this person around a little

I think the technical help you need is a spot of psychotherapy.

The person was whining that they now have to go into the office five days a week instead of four, people like that make me want to spew, as the British would say.

Yes, the person is selfish.

There are so many greater examples of selfishness afoot in our country at the moment.

If you are only seriously bothered by this example, you need psychotherapy because you are irrationally singling out a single example of selfishness.

If you are as badly bothered by all the other examples of selfishness as you are by this one, you need psychotherapy, not because they aren't selfish, but because being that badly bothered is bad for your health.

This person is probably just a schmuck in addition to being childishly selfish, the problem is there are millions of people who think the same way. Return-to-office edicts are being met with just massive opposition.

I'm more worried about a very small number of very selfish people who are being selected to run the government for the next 4 years.

And gimme a break. He only wants to work at home one day a week. And he's obviously in a suburb where the office parks don't contribute much to the local economy because it's too much work to get lunch from outside the building. And 3 days per week in the office is enough to develop a sense of community.

Don’t be too worried about the next 4 years. We survived the last 4 we’ll survive the next 4.

Yep. You and I will survive just fine.

Some people won't. Like some of the people who take RFK Jr's advice about vaccines.

"Like some of the people who take RFK Jr's advice about vaccines."

I wouldn't take his advice. But that's just me. But as long as freedom of choice exists in this country, especially when it comes to their own body, folks should have the right to refuse to get vaccinated. Just as folks have the right to smoke cigarettes. We all know that cigarettes in time will kill you, but folks have the right to light up

For sure. But the president shouldn't be appointing people who have a track record of giving damaging, and sometimes fatal, advice.

Advice can be taken two ways, as Gospel or bullshit. Its up to the person on the receiving end of the advice to use his/her God given intelligence to decide which is which.

You are focusing on the people being given the bad advice. I am focusing on the givers of bad advice and those who enable them.

How about when children die unnecessarily, like in Samoa?

It is no longer a matter of opinion whether the measles vaccine is effective. The evidence is there in droves.

Children die unnecessarily world wide. Why single out Samoa??

As far as measles vaccine being effective, no argument from me. As far as anyone thinking otherwise, I think their dead wrong.

4 days a week is not hybrid. 3 days is max.

4 days a week is full time with a an "allowance" to telecommute on inclement weather days, doctors appointments etc.
It is not hybrid.

There is no need to be in any office for more than 2. Every garbage company is not on par with the mission of spacex so get over yourselves.

Why single out Samoa??

Because RFK Jr. specifically derided the efficacy and hyped the risks of the measles vaccine to the people of Samoa, as a result of which their vaccination rate was far below typical. And then a measles outbreak came through and far more children died than if vaccination rates had been normal.

If RFK Jr. were now a disgraced figure whom no one cared about, there would be no need to single out Samoa. But because he is now designated to be Secretary of HHS and in a position of huge power to denigrate vaccines further, there is a very great need to single out Samoa.

You can call the people of Samoa stupid for having heeded RFK, sure. But they did heed him. And people will heed him again if he's Secretary of HHS.

WTF? Selected prominent people demonize vaccines. That group is hugely overrepresented in Trump's health-related appointments.

the doctor who initially said that vaccines make children stupid has completely retracted his claim.

Glad to hear it from you. It hasn't bigly made the news.

What you need to understand is that RFK can do real damage to our nation's health.

I don't believe Wakefield has retracted.

The Lancet retracted his paper, but I see no sign that HE has ever retracted his findings.
