Why single out Samoa??Because RFK Jr. specifically derided the efficacy and hyped the risks of the measles vaccine to the people of Samoa, as a result of which their vaccination rate was far below typical. And then a measles outbreak came through and far more children died than if vaccination rates had been normal. If RFK Jr. were now a disgraced figure whom no one cared about, there would be no need to single out Samoa. But because he is now designated to be Secretary of HHS and in a position of huge power to denigrate vaccines further, there is a very great need to single out Samoa. You can call the people of Samoa stupid for having heeded RFK, sure. But they did heed him. And people will heed him again if he's Secretary of HHS. |
