This is what I think is really stupid about Partisan politics. Right now, the balance of power is tipping toward the left, Republicans are starting to disagree with THEIR OWN MAN in the White House, and you are making a big deal about one guy fussing because some democrat did not appear on a television program. WOW, they're really falling apart!Partisan politics='teh suck'. |

What does "my faith" have to do with any political party? I mentioned the Constitution Party to get Chris' goat, and to possibly get him thinking.I've never discussed "my faith" on this board, for the record. I have discussed religious scripture, though, when it was brought up by those that appeared to "give a flying fuck" by bringing it up. Not my fault if nobody likes the answers; but then again, they ain't my words. |

Well, Republicans aren't like Democrats. They're poised to nominate a pro-choice presidential candidate for the '08 elections. Call me when a pro-lifer gets nominated by the Democrats. Heck, I'll gladly accept a pro-life Democrat being allowed to speak at the DNC. The Republican party has a "bigger tent". You can be pro-choice and pro-gay rights and still get invited to all the big parties. Try being a Democrat who supports the opposite. Heck, try being a Democrat who dares to say the invasion of Iraq was a good thing! |

Do you see them attempting to disestablish Amendment I of the Constitution? Nope. They may be of a particular religion, but they are not proposing a state religion. Go ahead and try and prove that they are. You'll come up extremely short. And like it or not, the Constitution does mirror laws found in the Bible, something that the Constitution Party unabashedly points out. If you don't like that fact, then perhaps you aren't supporting the US Constitution. |

I'll believe the GOP Pro-Choice candidate (Giuliani) when I see it. And in all honesty, I'll be glad if and when it happens. It'll be good for the country as a whole. But bear in mind, he'd be the first since 1976 (Gerald Ford.) That's 32 years there!Moderate Republicans are trotted out for the convention, and shown whenever the GOP wants to create the illusion of a "Big Tent". But they have absolutely zero power when it comes to national policy decisions. The far-right base is the only thing the current president or the party leadership will listen to. Your tent is very small indeed. (In fact the remaining congressional GOP moderates might even be in a better position with Democrats in power) |

Bob Casey was denied the right to speak at the 1992 DNC simply because he was pro-life. Republicans have a greater tolerance for pro-choicers (a good one third of the party IS pro-choice) than Democrats do for right-to-lifers. Tim Hagan, once a rising star in the Democratic party and their nominee for governor of Ohio in 2002 has had his political career virtually ruined because he married a famous and ardent pro-life advocate (actress Kate Mulgrew). Dick Cheney still remains the darling of the far right, despite being married to a pro-choice republican and despite having a lesbian daughter. Republicans are more tolerant based on their actions, even if Democrats say otherwise. |
