Consumer Prices up Again In October |
|
Posted by Train Dude on Wed Nov 13 08:50:25 2024 I was raised in a middle class family and blah blah blah. But consumer prices rose 2.6% in October meaning that the biden/harris cah-cah that inflation is moderating is not quite true. The "good" news is that core inflation remained constant at 3.3% as expected. |

Unemployment destroys lives. As by many accounts we're mired in the worst job market since the depths of the 2008-2009 recession, inflation is nearly irrelevant.Note: to see what the job market is really like, horror story after horror story, check out the r/jobs subreddit ... but make sure you've got a bottle of antidepressants handy. |

I like recrutinghell personally as I have a thing against HR loser. But I've quit the reddit system and I don't want to relapse. Especially since according to Reddit, VW has nothing to do with Nazi's, but Tesla does. |

Reddit is anecdotal evidence only, and it is obviously weighted toward the bad news. It won't be so great if the US puts 25% tariffs on all EU goods and the EU retaliates, though. As a partial compensation, plenty of unemployed US workers will get their crack at the agricultural job of their choice. Also plenty of jobs mopping floors in supermarkets. |

I suspect the tariffs are just a talking point and if any increases actually happen they'll be minor. As for r/jobs, I believe it has a disproportionate number of people in tech, and without question that field is in tough shape. |

Everything he ever said was just him mouthing off and didn't really mean anything. But everything Harris ever said was put under a looking glass and compared with her entire history since she was in college, and the worst possible interpretation always applied. |

Reddit is anecdotal evidence only, and it is obviously weighted toward the bad news. There are a few trends which are reducing the size of the labor force below past levels and therefore are keeping the unemployment rate down: people are staying in school longer, retiring at younger and younger ages (55 is the new 65), and anecdotally at least more women are becoming housewives. |

"I suspect the tariffs are just a talking point and if any increases actually happen they'll be minor."Considering they stripped away a lot of the important consumer goods from the index, it's always higher. |
