Harris won the debate

Posted by Orange Blossom Special on Wed Sep 11 04:59:07 2024

I liked her Pelosi-like overacting, name-calling, cackling behavior. I thought it was very confident and presidential. Very mature facial expressions. I also was very impressed with her constant name-dropping and how she sided with Wall-Street banks more than main street.
I also thought it took guts to repeat quite a few (more than one) debunked conspiracy theory. And to make it a central focus-point of her campaign.

Also, her few bits where it sounded like she was doing closing arguments in front of a jury really resonated with many parts of the black community I am sure. It didn't put the rest of us to sleep at all.

I agree. But I could do without the cackling and smirking, like a kid in a schoolyard in a rank-out fight. That said, no knockout punch from either side but it was evident that Harris did her homework. Trump made good points about the immigration and border security failures...but over and over?? Its a real horserace now. This debate was a far cry from Trump v/s Biden

Of course she did. The fix was in. She would’ve won even if she hadn’t shown up. Trump had no shot. Everyone knows that. I’m not saying this as a Trumpist - I’m not a Trumpist by any means - but as a person who mourns the loss of honorable political discourse in our once-great country.

Trump does the same thing with his facial expressions. If you stand their stoic people would think you aren’t human or soulless. I agree that neither scored a knockout punch, but I also think that this was the most effective I have seen anyone go on the offensive against Trump and get under his skin. The remarks about rally size were well done on Harris’s part.

Licking her lips flinging her head back at the eating pets line. Her renowned uproarious laughter that appears fake on the Marxist comment. Her squinting, fist on chin look at Trump was overplayed. The constant shaking no of her head when her microphone was muted.

Yup mature.

I respectfully disagree. Trump clearly won the first debate against Biden and forced him out of the race. He looked unprepared against Harris especially when she went on the offensive on “ego” issues. He approached the debate like he did against Biden and that hurt him at points. I understand why he was trying to pivot to immigration/border security, but it doesn’t work in every scenario.

Trump stood there making handicapped faces throughout every one of her answers? I'm not even sure if he ever looked at her but she couldn't stop pulling a Pelosi.

And yes, it was good that Harris pointed out how much bigger and better his rallies are.

But I couldn't help remember The Nancy during the state of the union. It was so distracting the way she was constantly emoting and acting like she was drunker than a skunk.
I saw the same thing last night in Harris, another politician whom they accuse of never being sober. It's a strange coincidence as I never see anyone act like that. Maybe it's a woman thing?

I cannot imagine anyone being enamored with it. But the media and paid shills will write how great she is, with articles written days before she even showed up.

The fix was in.

As predicted days prior to the "debate", the NYTimes intelligence is in:

"A good night for Harris

Debating has long been a Kamala Harris strength. It resembles courtroom argument, a core part of her career as a prosecutor.

She was calm and forceful

she smiled, shook her head

She often looked directly at him or the camera; he seemed unwilling to look at her and looked mostly at the moderators.

“Trump looked old tonight,” Chris Wallace

“Like many of you, I watched the debate tonight,” Taylor Swift wrote on social media afterward. “I will be casting my vote for Kamala Harris and Tim Walz.” [who like his hero Hitler, has a lot of good ideas]

Speaking of moderators, are they real news people? cuz if so, yikes now it all makes sense.

I think you are letting your biases get the better of you. If the election were today I am leaving President blank.

Harris wants another debate because she needs the free air time to convince people she isn't more of Biden. People have an opinion, one way or the other, about Trump. Harris needs to convince the marginal Trump supporters to stay home on Election Day. She also was trying to put Trump as the one avoiding debates as he is already bad mouthing the agreed upon moderators for the FOX debate.

NYtimes responds to that:

There are a couple of important caveats.

First, Harris didn’t have a perfect night. She often ignored the questions from ABC’s moderators — like the opening question about whether Americans are better off than four years ago, as well as questions about her changed positions on fracking and other subjects. She recited her talking points instead.

She made a few false or misleading statements

She described her policies in ways that weren’t always easy to understand. In Trump’s closing statement, he parried her many promises by pointing out that she has been vice president for three-and-a-half years and asked, “Why hasn’t she done it?”

She hasn't done it because she's Vice President. That job involves calling in a 8 AM daily to check that the President is alive. Anything else she does is window dressing. Just look at her appointment to research the causes for human migration from Central America (Which did not involve any legal powers beyond likely being able to take out library books and some traveling).

I thought neither candidate won the debate, but Trump missed many opportunities to deliver a knockout punch. For example, on the so-called “bipartisan border bill” he should have said it was a foreign aid bill that still allows 5000 illegals in a day and that HR 2, sitting on Schumer’s desk for over a year is the true border bill. But instead he went on a tangent. I don’t think anyone’s vote was swayed too much one way or another. Of course, on X all the Trump supporters say he won bigly and all the Harris supporters say she won.

Well, CNN may really be liberal. But what fix?

- Trump and Harris both agreed to be fact checked. Trump just needed more of it.

- Trump got more time than Harris. Is that a fix because they figured he would use the time badly?

- The moderators sycophantly called Trump "Mr. President." Yes, that's done on occasion for ex-presidents, but it sure isn't standard terminology.
